FAQs
Who's eligible to join the server?
Anyone ages 11-18 who has an up to date Oneonta Public Library card. Don't have a library card? It's free to get one, just stop by the library (please bring a parent/guardian).
How can I join?
Fill out this application and submit it to the library, OR fill it out online here. After the application has been processed, an email will be sent with login information. You must have your own Minecraft login on Bedrock edition.
Bedrock edition? What's that mean?
There are two different versions of Minecraft. Java is the original Minecraft, made for PC, and Bedrock is the Microsoft edition you play on an Xbox, the Windows 10 edition, or Pocket Edition. This server is on Bedrock, which means if you only have a Java log-in, you will not be able to join the server. Xbox does not currently allow you to join onto player made servers.
Why isn't the server on Java?
When asked, the majority of teens said they played on Bedrock, so we went with that.
Is the server permanent? What about the current map?
Having an available Minecraft server for local teens is an experiment, but one we hope will last. It will depend on how popular it is, and whether participants will follow the rules of conduct found on the application. As for the map, we plan to keep it as it, but we will likely start a new world periodically after discussing timing with server members.
What happens if there is a problem, either technical or with another player?
Please report any problems to oplprogramming@gmail.com or send a message via Discord on the OPLTeens server to Jordan.
