Our lobby is now open to the public, but we are still taking curbside orders for those who do not wish to enter the building. We are open for calling in or picking up orders during our normal operating hours.
HOW CURBSIDE PICKUP WORKS
You can browse our catalog to see what items we currently have available to check out. Items with a green background are available, items with a pink background are unavailable. Items with DMZ listed under the Label category are digital eBooks or audiobooks, which are only available to check out via our Libby app. You can find instructions on how to check out digital items on your phone or tablet here.
Now you're ready to place an order! There are a few ways you can do this.
BY PHONE Call the library and let us know what you want. If you're not sure, you can tell us a few authors or a genre you enjoy and we will select a few options for you to try.
RESERVE ONLINE Go to our catalog and log in to your account. Search for the items you want and simply click Reserve. You can find a step by step tutorial on how to reserve items here.
ON THE APP If you have downloaded the Oneonta Public Library app to your mobile device, you can access our catalog there. The steps are the same as above.
Note: If you order by phone, we will let you know an estimated time your order will be ready for pickup, typically 15-30 minutes unless we have a lot of orders. If you reserve your order online, you will have to wait until we contact you to let you know your order is ready. To view or change how you are contacted for reserved items, follow the tutorial on managing your account here. Orders placed within an hour of closing may not be ready until the following morning.
Now you're ready to pick up your items! Once you have arrived in the parking lot, give us a call to let us know you are here. Your items will be brought out to your vehicle. If you have items to return, you can give it to the staff member delivering your order, or you can place them in our drop box to the right of the front doors. We ask that you do not place bags in the drop box as they can sometimes get stuck inside the mechanism.
How many items can I request at pickup? While the library is operating under pickup, orders will be limited to 15 items per household. This helps us ensure that we can cycle materials in a reasonable time frame while maintaining cleanliness standards.
What if I don't know what books I want? You can browse our entire library catalog and check a book's availability there. Additionally, we are offering a sample option where you can request a genre or author you like and be provided a sample based on your choice.
What if I don't want my books or I've already read them? If you are not happy with your current selection, please return unwanted materials to the book drop and place a different order. All new orders can expect up to a 30 minute wait.
How do I check out movies? You can request available movies during this time. All movies will be due back 1 week from checkout and will be limited to 4 movies per household.
Can I get a new card via curbside? Please call during operating hours to request a new card. Bring a photo ID and mailed proof of address to the pickup area. A member of our staff will verify your papers and bring an application. New cards will be issued via mail once applications have been processed, typically within 1 to 2 weeks.
Feel free to call us with any other questions or concerns you may have.
